Qaqortoq (Julianehab) Travel Guide
Travel Guide Summary
Still called Julianehb by many, Qaqortoq is the Greenlander name for the town that was founded in the eighteenth century as a missionary and trading station. The nearby Hvalsey settlement contains the ruins of a Norse farmstead and village which is supposed to have been founded by Eric the Red's uncle in the 10th century. Eric the Red, of course, is credited with founding the main settlements in Greenland.
