Travel Guide Summary
New York City is so well-known that, in many ways, it isn't known at all. We naturally focus on the great "sights" - the Empire State building, Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Station, Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge, the Rockefeller Center, and the shops like Macy's, Bloomingdales and those on 5th Avenue, while often forgetting that the city has a great soul and history as well.
The Dutch, British and African inlfuences predominate but the city has been a melting pot for centuries, each culture bringing different perspectives and new vitality. One of the most rewarding tourist activities is watching for these influences and soaking up the excitingly different cultures of this great city.
