Sample Guide & Information

A Day In™ guides are carefully researched to a concise and useful specification and format.

They range between about 7 and 25 pages in length depending on the size of the destination. Each guide is specially researched and written - and every one has a date of production clearly marked on the front page. Every guide is re-researched and amended every year.

Download our example guide PDF. Note that the example is entirely fictitious. It has been constructed in order to illustrate the average content, layout and style of a Guide. Every Guide is different because every vacation destination is different - some are smaller than average, some are larger; some have more on history and less on shopping and vice versa, some have lengthy sections on recreational sports and sea fishing, others focus on the tourist sights and tours that are available to nearby attractions. The example is just an example.

The usual sections - depending on the nature of the destination - in the guides are as follows:

Start here...

The main essential information that you can carry with you when you go ashore - a brief guide to the area - the main tourist sights - an outline of shopping - some emergency contact numbers, etc.

Shopping

Where the main shopping areas and malls are and - where appropriate - details of a selection of clothes, souvenir, jewellery, antiques, and gifts shops.

History

A brief guide to the history of the city or area.

Culture

Some concise information on the locality's art galleries and museums.

Recreation

Where appropriate to the destination we give a brief guide to the opportunities for golf, tennis, fishing, sea fishing, horse racing, swimming, diving, water skiing, para-gliding, etc.

Local tours and car hire

A section that provides a selection of potential tours using local operators, including trips by bus, ferry, tram, train and boat. For those who want to travel further afield we also include, wherever possible, contact details for car hire firms.

Eating out

Depending on the destination this section gives some selected eating places of different types - fast food, cafes, restaurants, etc.

NOTE: for most destinations, almost all of the above come in a single guide. For some of the larger destinations there is simply too much information to get it all into one convenient guide - these destinations therefore have different guides for different subjects. Details of length and availability are provided on the individual location pages (just go to Select Destination).
